Population genomics and molecular evolution

Population genetics is the study of genetic variation within and between populations and how this variation changes over time. With the advent of modern genomic technologies, our knowledge of genetic variation within the human population has exploded. Studying this variation has shed light on population demography and insight has helped shape the design and interpretation of studies of human disease. Through the study of ancient DNA we can now assay genetic variation from distinct historical timepoints, providing a unique insight to our past.
