Well done to UCC cohort 1 student Maria Becerra who successfully defended her thesis in August!
Maria’s research focused on “Exploring the dark/camouflaged genome: analysing difficult genomic regions in disease genetics” and she worked with Prof Tom Moore at University College Cork. Maria is one of 15 cohort 1 PhD students and the 2nd student on the programme to complete her PhD so a huge well done to Maria ands her supervisor!
Maria is currently taking a short break to consider her career options before moving onto the next stage of her career and we’re sure she will be highly successful in whatever she chooses to do!
