Well done to CRT student Fiona Pantring who won the award for best oral presentation at this years annual conference of the Virtual Institute of Bioinformatics & Evolution (VIBE) 👏

VIBE was founded in 2000, to consolidate bioinformatics research efforts in Ireland, provide a forum for emerging bioinformatics researchers, provide a platform for the development of an Irish commercial bioinformatics capability, and develop bioinformatics teaching within Irish Universities.

VIBE took place in TCD on 8th Dec and was opened by Minister James Lawless. Fiona is doing her PhD at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland  and her presentation was on “Characterisation of diverse global ancestries among participants of the UK Biobank illustrates the immigration history of Great Britain in the 20th century “. The prize for best presentation was awarded by Government Science Advisor Professor Aoife McLysaght. So very well done to Fiona 👏

Thanks to Máire Ní Leathlobhair and the student organising committee for all their hard work in putting on such a fantastic meeting for Bioinformaticians from across Ireland!
