A big congratulations to Jack Tierney who successfully defended his thesis today!
Jack’s research project was on “Graph based data structures for the representation of protein coding loci” and he was supervised by Prof Pasha Baranov at University College Cork.
His external examiner was Sebastian van Heesch from the Princess Maxima institute for pediatric oncology in Utrecht and his internal examiner was Malgosia Krajewska from the School of Biochemistry in UCC.
Jack would like to pursue a career as a researcher in academia and plans to do an initial post doc in Ireland before then moving abroad for a few years.
