Growing up as a twin, I was always fascinated by the apparent differences between my brother and me. This sparked my interest in genetics and molecular biology, and I chose to pursue science for my undergraduate degree at University College Dublin. I graduated from UCD in 2021 with a BSc. in Cell and Molecular Biology along with a structured elective in Statistics and Data Analytics. During this time I developed an interest in the mathematical and statistical side of biology and so I decided to apply to the CRT in Genomics Data Science. My PhD research focuses on improving our understanding of the progression of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in patients by developing methods to identify malignant AML cells using DNA/RNA-seq data and to subsequently track their evolution. Ar na hábhair spéise eile atá agam tá an Ghaeilge agus faoi láthair táim ag déanamh an Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge C1 go páirtaimseartha anseo in Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh.
