Our very own Prof Aoife McLysaght appointed as Government Science Advisor!

The CRT is delighted that Prof Aoife McLysaght the CRT lead investigator at Trinity College Dublin has been appointed as the new Government Science Advisor

As the Government Science Advisor Aoife will chair the new National Science Advice Forum and provide cross-sectoral and multi-disciplinary science advice to the government. .

Aoife is the Chair of Evolutionary Genetics in Trinity College Dublin, is the CRT lead for TCD and and has led a research group in TCD for over 20 years.  The role will be part of new science advice structures that will assist in informing responses to complex and challenging policy issues.

Her appointment was announced on 8th October 2024  by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Patrick O’Donovan and Aoife will be based in the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation. Aoife  is very excited to be starting this new role and to have the opportunity to work with the many extraordinary people across the civil service.
