Well done to Helen Horkan and Rebecca Mahony who both passed their PhD Viva’s recently!
Helen who did her PhD in Uri Franks ‘group at the University of Galway and worked on “The molecular basis of genome stability in a non-aging animal” passed her PhD on 11th April. Helen will stay on for a few months in Uri’s lab to finish off the work for some papers before taking up a post doc position in the Stowers Medical Research Institute in the USA.
Rebecca who did her PhD in Derek Morris’ group at the University of Galway and worked on “Investigating the effect of polygenic risk for schizophrenia on gene expression and cell subtype proportions” passed her viva on 16th April and will take up a position as as Postdoctoral research associate, UK Dementia Research Institute, Cardiff University starting May 2024.
We wish both of these talented young researchers our very best for what we are sure will be exciting careers ahead of them!
